Netgear WAX630 Access Point Setup

An access point is a networking device that acts as a bridge between your wired device and wireless devices. It takes signals from a wired device using a cable and transforms them into wireless ones so that your WiFi devices can gain access to the internet. One such access point is built by Netgear and is called Netgear WAX630 access point.

How to Install Netgear WAX630 Access Point?

All networking devices need to be configured/installed before you put them to use. Since WAX630 is cloud managed, you can use 3 ways to install. The first two include using the Insight Cloud portal and the Insight app that is specially drafted for mobile phones. The third method should be used if you want to perform Netgear access point setup in Standalone mode. Go through the given information for AP setup using the app and cloud portal:

Using the Insight Cloud Portal Using Insight App
Power up the AP using the PoE connection or power cable. Supply power to your Netgear WAX630 access point.
Ensure that the AP is connected to the internet. Connect the AP to your router and then your mobile phone to AP WiFi.
Load a web browser on a computer connected to WAX630 network. Launch the Insight app now.
Enter the Netgear account details and click Sign In. Enter the email address and the password for your account.
Pick the network location. Select the location where you are going to use the access point.
Select Add Device > Enter the serial number and MAC. Tap Add Device if your AP is detected automatically. Else, scan the code and enter a few details.
Click Go. The next screen will ask you to name the access point.
When the Insight portal validates your product, you will be able to change the name and other settings of your AP. The app will now update your Netgear WAX630 to the latest firmware version.
The firmware will be updated and your access point will restart. Your AP will now restart.
The Power light of your AP will turn solid blue. If the Power LED was green, it will become solid blue now.
Netgear WAX630 setup is complete. You can now manage the network settings.

Quick Tip: In order to connect your device to the WiFi network of the access point, you should check the label for the SSID. However, the WiFi password is sharedsecret. Also, ensure to use the correct MyNetgear account details.
